***An attempt at an in the moment description that I'm not really feeling right now!***
On the phone,
You stretch your arms above your head,
Blue polo, Gray pants
Legs tapping, acting as your own metronome
measuring the rhythm of your heart
Turned sideways now
Your hand grazes the mouse
Your eyes hypnotized by the bright screen
Distracted by the dryness of your eyes.

9/29/11
***What do you think Folks? This came to me as I tried to fall asleep last night. My muse must have finally woken;). I think she's been getting ready to hibernate for winter-- a tad prematurely;)***
Skinned knees,
I fell trying to help you up
Blinded by love
I didn't realize the only one bleeding
was me
Breathless,
from the chase
I slowed my pace
Long enough to notice
The Loti were submerged
Drowning,
Their frailty called me
And I waded in deeper for the rescue
momentarily forgetting my inability to swim
Courage,
that didn't last long
Your honesty reminding me
Before the water surpassed my chin
Grateful nonetheless,
Because my scars now tell the story
of the shallow ocean
Skinned knees,
I fell trying to help you up
Blinded by love
I didn't realize the only one bleeding
was me
Breathless,
from the chase
I slowed my pace
Long enough to notice
The Loti were submerged
Drowning,

And I waded in deeper for the rescue
momentarily forgetting my inability to swim
Courage,

Before the water surpassed my chin
Grateful nonetheless,

Missing Yoga!
9/28/11
***It's been such a long time since I've written anything on here :/ so I thought this would be a good time to catch up. My goal is to write a longer story but character and plot development is tough. I'm trying to find something that will spark the dormant muse within. In the meantime, what do you think of the piece below? What feeling do you think I'm trying to capture? My only hint to you is that this is written to capture how I feel since I've taken a break from yoga lately. Comments are always welcome:) ***
The kindling in my heart
ignites into fire on my tongue
Profanity slips out of my mouth effortlessly
Anger dancing around every word
Forgetting another glorious sunset
As my black eyes choose to focus
on the surviving darkness instead.

Silver Metal Rings
9/16/2011
Scared of success
not failure
she sat motionless
pondering her decisions
Her frost bitten feet
glowed an indecisive green
swollen with unfulfilled potential
breathlessly waiting to walk again
But her mind,
Busy hiding from her heart
in the company of fear
sluggishly sprinted further away
Scared of success
not failure
she sat motionless
pondering her decisions
Her frost bitten feet
glowed an indecisive green
swollen with unfulfilled potential
breathlessly waiting to walk again
But her mind,
Busy hiding from her heart
in the company of fear

***I like the first line a lot.***
The bagel vibrated blue
sailing under the shelf
cold bottle burning gas,
cheese that blinked light
Drove away the hole
resting in my head,
humming as it soaked the car
shaking above the pens.

Color Blind- When Green becomes Red
9/9/11
***I've been meaning to write a piece about how people see what they want to, for quite some time now (I touched upon an aspect of this in the blog post titled Foreign Graduation). And I'll write more on this topic again. But today I was talking to a friend's mother and she got me thinking--this is a trap we fall into over, and over, and over, and over ( I could go on forever) again, yet we fail to recognize the vicious cycle. In high school, as we prepped for our AP Biology exam, my biology teacher's mantra to us for the essay portion of the exam was, "Don't answer the question you wish they had asked, but rather the one that is being asked." This advice can be extrapolated into our daily lives and is definitely something that I think about often--sometimes on exams, other times during them ;), or in my interactions with people. How many of you have put up with a lying friend even though deep down you knew they'd do it again, because you wanted to believe this was the last time, or they weren't lying to be mean? STOP what you are doing right now to take a second or two to assess your intentions and your feelings to help yourself better understand your desires, passions, and personal triggers. Without this periodic check, it's difficult to identify when the above situation occurs or when a person is unhealthy for you. And I'm super sleepy so this is all the editing that'll be done tonight. Goodnight! ***
Sometimes the heart knows
what the brain knows not
but once we know,
what we didn't know before
we use our minds to better understand
a matter of the heart.
Seems stupid doesn't it.

Pondering September 7th
Your eyes always smile,
Even when your heart wants to cry
You're so good,
I may never know whether your smile is real
--
Although, I looked like everyone else
I was different.
I possessed a special piece of paper
They didn't.
--
You're important to me
like food to my body
And although I may neglect you for a few
When things get really busy
You're never far from my mind
And when I feel invincible,
I think I don't need you to survive
But the joke will always be on me.
--
Poverty isn't funny
And if you are here to help,
then do.
How can you choose to help some,
and ignore the rest.
Does that not make your sleeping conscience toss and turn?
--

***Trying out something new.***
9/1/11
We rode our bikes into the sun
Fleeing the shadows of emotion behind us
Afraid to slow down
In case uncertainty, or her friend indecision caught up
We failed to realize
We'd lost before the chase had even begun
Our helmets securely fastened,
Swept my hair back, but
Held our fear in place
Like a shield,
Our laughter stomped in front of us
Chasing away the goblins of reality
The destroyers of dreams
If we pedaled fast enough.
We'd defeat the pragmatism dormant between us
But if somehow the Minotaur awoke,
We'd mount our snow white Unicorns,
Flying into the world of neon green skies,
Where the Sun is known to beam--
Equally on those of wealth and those without
Unafraid of any objections
A Fireball of justice
